The Corey Jones Foundation

Corey Lamar Jones was born on February 3, 1984, in Boynton Beach, Florida, to Clinton Levine Jones, Sr., and Anita Banks-Negron, who preceded him in death. Corey transitioned to a better life on Sunday, October 18, 2015. He was raised in the church and skillfully developed his gift as a percussionist. Always eager to invest time and energy into mastering his musical artistry, Corey approached every project, song, and good deed in a spirit of excellence.As a young adult, Corey committed his life to Jesus Christ and maintained a personal relationship with his Savior throughout his time on earth. He matriculated through Palm Beach County Public Schools as a bright and promising student. He began his early education at Banyan Creek Elementary School, then advanced to Christa McAuliffe Middle School. Corey later graduated from Santaluces High School, where he excelled academically and participated in track, football, and the marching band.He pursued higher education at the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and the University of Akron in Ohio, where he majored in music education and played football. In 2008, Corey began a professional career as an Inspector/Assistant Property Manager for the Delray Beach Housing Authority. In this role, he earned several accolades and certifications, including Public Housing Management and HCV Housing Quality Standards Specialist. Corey was responsible and dedicated in his vocation, always striving to make his workdays both productive and enjoyable.In addition to his primary employment, Corey invested in people and causes that uplifted individuals from all walks of life. He provided free music lessons to children and adults, participated in community cleanups, and mentored young musicians. As a young leader, Corey organized church jam sessions that brought musicians together to create melodies from heaven. He was also a member of several outstanding bands, each fostering cherished friendships and allowing him to use his gift to touch countless lives around the world.Corey’s memory will eternally personify selflessness, high character, integrity, encouragement, and positive influence. Although he had an extensive list of educational, ministerial, and professional accomplishments, he also understood the importance of enjoying life. His extracurricular activities included watching “Diff’rent Strokes,” “Martin,” and “Family Guy”; playing video games with his brother; working construction with his father every Friday; spending quality time with close friends and family; laughing out loud (“Yaaaaaaaaah!”); and being the ultimate Oakland Raiders fan.Corey’s fun-loving, calm, playful, humble, and peaceful nature will be deeply missed by all who had the invaluable privilege of knowing and loving him.
